It was an atmosphere of joy, conviviality and re-union as Ndi Umudioka Awka, Awka South Local Government Area, held a grand reception for one of its illustrious sons, Mr. Ossy Onuko, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, ACTDA.
The event, held at Ndichie Hall Umudioka Obunese, attractedGovernor Chukwuma Soludo,represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, top government functionaries, members of the All-Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, among others.
Appreciating Ndi Umudioka for the reception, Governor Soludo thanked them for supporting his administration and revealed that his government is currently constructing over two hundred and fifty-one kilometers of roads across the state, out of which about seventeen kilometers are in Awka.
The governor, who described Mr. Onuko as a symbol of an ideal Anambra Youth, said that his administration has employed five thousand teachers, over three hundred doctors and nurses, mapped out over two point five billion naira for youth empowerment and fighting insecurity head-on, among others.
He appealed to Ndi Awka and Anambra Residents to keep supporting APGA by ensuring that all the party’s candidates in the 2023 general elections are voted for.
The state commissioner for Industry, Dr. Obinna Ngonadi, described Mr. Onuko as a good man, who has a lot of potentials evident in his transformation agenda in Awka Capital Territory and urged Ndi Umudioka to keep praying for him.
The APGA Candidate for Awka North and South Federal Constituency, Honourable Obi Nwankwo, as well as APGA Candidate for Awka South One Constituency, Mr. Igwedimma Nwofor, described the ACTDA boss as a shining light that should be emulated.
Responding, Mr. Onuko, who was overwhelmed with joy for the honour, thanked Governor Soludo for finding him worthy to serve in his government and promised that he will never disappoint both the state government and his people.
Earlier while breaking the kolanut, Ichie Nwammadi Nwaonwu prayed God to continue to bless and protect Mr. Onuko as the ACTDA boss equally used the event to extend his Christmas largesse to his people, while some stakeholders were officially admitted into APGA Family.
The reception climaxed when Ndi Ichie Umudioka Awka, prayed for Mr. Onuko, gave him symbol of authority according to the community’s tradition.
