A brief look in our history
ACTDA was lawfully enacted in 2014 by The Anambra State House of Assembly, it fully operates under a law of it’s own which was passed in The State Parliament. That law has since been amended, and we now have ACTDA Law of 2020 which we currently use today.
The Executive Governor of Anambra State, Chief (Dr.) Willie M. Obiano, on May 15, 2014, inaugurated the board of the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority charging it with the mandate to “transform Awka like Dubai did from 1990 to 2013.” The Board has a Chairman, an Executive Vice Chairman, a Secretary and seven other Board Members.”

As the CEO of the Millennium City Project, I have had the distinct pleasure of collaborating with the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA). Our joint efforts have been pivotal in the realization of the Millennium City vision—a testament to ACTDA’s commitment to excellence and sustainable urban development. Under the guidance of Mr. Osita Onuko, ACTDA has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to transforming Awka into a model city, replete with state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities.
